GIMP does not currently support plugins in python although they are supposed to be revived in a future version. The plug-in files have been kept here but be aware that they will not work with recent versions of GIMP. Python2 is now obsolete and all the code has been replaced by python3 versions. For the stand-alone code pyrestore2.py not longer works following a change in the PIL library, and it has been removed. pyrestore3.py has been replaced by the python3 version py3restore3.py and the latest py3restore4.py is recommended as generally the best. This last has also been tested in windows10. Those not wishing to install python for windows can use the executable file restore4.0A.exe which should run with no other extra files. Some virus protection software flags this file as infected but if it can be downloaded it appears to work. It is the same method as py3restore4.py. For those with only a small number of slides, or who want to try the software, the website restore.heliohost.org allows one to upload a faded photograph and receive back the improved version. It does not work with large files.
